How to Erase All Remotes from a LiftMaster or Chamberlain Opener
Press and hold the learn button on the motor unit for about six seconds, until its LED goes out. That clears every paired remote and keypad. Then re-pair the ones you're keeping.

Before you start
- A stepladder
- Every remote you want to keep, ready to re-pair right after
Step by step
Step 1: Find the learn button on the motor unit.
Step 2: Press and hold it for about six seconds, until the LED next to it goes out. Then let go. Remotes and keypads are now erased.
Step 3: On a yellow-button opener, myQ accessories like a wireless door sensor are kept. To clear those too, hold the learn button again straight away, until the LED goes out a second time. Neither hold removes the opener from your myQ account; that takes the black adjustment button, held until the opener beeps three times.
Step 4: Press each old remote. None of them should move the door now.
Step 5: Re-pair the remotes and keypad you're keeping, and re-train your car buttons.
Still not working? Here is what it usually is.
- The LED never went out. Keep holding until it does.
- An old car button still works. Re-train it from the car, or clear it using the car's own reset.
- The learn button doesn't respond at all, which points to a logic board problem.

Common Questions
We just moved in. Should we really do this?
- Yes. You don't know how many remotes the previous owners, their family, or their contractors still have. Erasing them takes a minute and is the single best security step for a new house. Set a new keypad PIN at the same time.
