Step 2: On the keypad, enter the PIN and then press #. On a new keypad the PIN is 0000.
Step 3: Test it: enter the PIN and press #. The door should move.

Step 5: Test the new PIN from outside. You don't need to pair the keypad again after changing the PIN.
Still not working? Here is what it usually is.
- A cold, weak battery. Keypad batteries drain fast in a Winnipeg winter.
- The PIN you're entering isn't the current one. If nobody knows it, reset the keypad to 0000 (see the question below).
- The keypad is too far from the opener or mounted behind steel siding.
We diagnose the whole system, opener, door, sensors, and remotes, and tell you plainly whether it's a quick fix or time for a new unit.
Common Questions
Can one SkyLink keypad run two garage doors?
- Yes. ATOMS keypads can run up to four openers. The keypad goes into multi-door mode and each door gets its own number. The steps are in the keypad section of the opener's manual.
Nobody knows the keypad PIN. How do I reset it?
- Open the keypad and take the battery out. Hold * and # together, put the battery back in, and keep holding both for about 5 seconds until the keypad gives a long beep. The PIN is back to 0000. Pair the keypad with the opener again, then set a new PIN.
