How to Program a SkyLink ATOMS Garage Door Remote

Press and release the SET button on the motor unit so the display shows P, then within 30 seconds press the remote button you want to use. The display turns off and the opener beeps once when the remote is learned.

Works for:
SkyLink ATOMS openers (model numbers starting with ATR). For a SkyLink universal remote on another brand of opener, use that brand's guide.

Before you start

  • A stepladder
  • The remote, with a fresh battery
  • The model number from the motor unit label

Step by step

  1. Step 1: Find the SET button on the motor unit, next to the UP and DOWN buttons and the small display.

  2. Step 2: Press and release SET. Don't hold it. The display shows P.

Holding SET for about 5 seconds changes the display to 1 and starts travel-limit setup, and holding it for 15 seconds starts erasing every remote. A quick press is all you need.

  3. Step 3: Within 30 seconds, press the button on the remote you want to use.

  4. Step 4: The display turns off and the opener beeps once. The remote is learned.

  5. Step 5: Repeat for each button and each remote. Every button is programmed on its own.

  6. Step 6: Test the remote with the door in sight.

Still not working? Here is what it usually is.

  • The remote is built for a different opener. Check the remote's model number against the opener's manual.
  • The battery is weak, especially in a cold car.
  • The wall console is in remote lock mode. The opener light flashes 3 times when a locked-out remote is pressed. Turn the lock off at the wall console.
  • The receiver on the opener's board has failed.

We diagnose the whole system, opener, door, sensors, and remotes, and tell you plainly whether it's a quick fix or time for a new unit.
