SkyLink Door Won't Close: Fixing the Safety Sensors

If a SkyLink ATOMS door stops after about an inch and the opener light flashes 10 times, the safety sensors are blocked or out of line. Clear the path, clean the lenses, and line them up until the red and blue LEDs both glow steady.

Works for:
SkyLink ATOMS openers.

Before you start

  • A soft cloth
  • A screwdriver

Step by step

  1. Step 1: Find the two sensors near the floor on each side of the door. The sending sensor has a red LED. The receiving sensor has a blue LED.

  2. Step 2: If the blue LED is off, the receiver can't see the beam. Clear anything in the way, including snow, leaves, or a bin.

  3. Step 3: Wipe both lenses clean.

  4. Step 4: Loosen the receiving sensor and pivot it until the blue LED glows steady. Tighten it.

  5. Step 5: If the red LED is off, the sending sensor has no power. Check its wire back to the opener.

  6. Step 6: Close the door with the remote to confirm.

Still not working? Here is what it usually is.

  • Low sun shining into the receiver. Swap the sensors to opposite sides.
  • A broken or shorted wire, often at a staple along the wall.
  • A failed sensor.
  • A door that binds or is out of balance. That shows up as an F on the display instead. The balance test takes two minutes.

We diagnose the whole system, opener, door, sensors, and remotes, and tell you plainly whether it's a quick fix or time for a new unit.
