How to Connect a SkyLink ATOMS Opener to Your Phone

SkyLink ATOMS openers connect through the Orbit Home app using SkyLink's plug-in Wi-Fi adapter, which comes in the box with some models and is sold separately for the rest. The opener needs a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network.

Before you start

  • Your 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network name and password. 5 GHz isn't supported.
  • The Orbit Home app on your phone
  • A decent Wi-Fi signal in the garage

Step by step

  1. Step 1: If your opener uses the plug-in Wi-Fi adapter, connect it to the opener following the adapter's instructions. Its red LED stays on when it has power.

  2. Step 2: Open the Orbit Home app, create an account, and add a new device.

  3. Step 3: Follow the app to join the opener to your 2.4 GHz network.

  4. Step 4: Test opening and closing from the app with the door in sight.

Still not working? Here is what it usually is.

  • Your phone or router is only offering a 5 GHz network. Turn on 2.4 GHz or set up a separate 2.4 GHz network.
  • The Wi-Fi signal in the garage is too weak, which is common in detached garages.

Common Questions

What happens if something blocks the door while I close it from the app?

If the safety sensors see something while the door is closing from the app, the door goes back to fully open. The opener also beeps and flashes its light whenever the door is closed from the app, as a warning to anyone in the garage. That alert can't be turned off.
