How to Replace the Battery in a SkyLink ATOMS Remote or Keypad
The SkyLink remote takes a CR2032 coin cell behind two screws on the bottom of the case, positive side up. The keypad takes one AAA alkaline behind a single screw on the bottom. The manual doesn't call for re-pairing after a battery swap; only the keypad's PIN reset needs it.
- Works for:
- SkyLink ATOMS openers (ATR-1611, 1612, 1622, 1722, and 1723 series) with the MK series keychain remote and the KN-318 keypad.

Before you start
- A CR2032 coin cell for the remote
- One AAA alkaline for the keypad
- A small Phillips screwdriver
Step by step
Step 1: Remote: undo the two screws on the bottom of the remote and open the case.
Step 2: Slide the old coin cell out and slide the new CR2032 in, positive side up. Close the case and refit the two screws.
Step 3: Keypad: undo the screw on the bottom of the keypad and lift off the back cover.
Step 4: Replace the AAA alkaline, checking the polarity marks, and refit the cover and screw.
Step 5: Test. Press the remote with the door in sight, or enter your PIN followed by # on the keypad. A plain battery swap doesn't change the pairing or the PIN.
Holding * and # while you reinsert the keypad battery, for about 5 seconds until a long beep, resets the PIN to 0000, and the keypad then has to be re-paired. If you did that by accident, re-pair it with the keypad guide.
Still not working? Here is what it usually is.
- The remote lights but the door doesn't move. Check the Remote Lock switch on the wall console isn't set to lock; the lock mode guide explains it. The opener flashes its light 3 times when the lock is on.
- Still nothing with a fresh cell. SkyLink's troubleshooting order is: check Remote Lock, reprogram the remote, replace the battery. Re-pair it using the remote guide.
- The remote wants a passcode before it works. The optional passcode protection on the three-button remote is on. See the FAQ below.

Common Questions
Does the remote need re-pairing after a new battery?
- The manual doesn't call for it. Reprogramming appears only in the troubleshooting list for a remote that won't work. The keypad keeps its PIN and pairing too, unless you held * and # during the swap, which is the deliberate PIN reset.
What's the passcode on the three-button remote?
- The three-button SkyLink remote has an optional passcode mode, factory passcode 2 2 2. To turn the mode on or off, hold buttons 1 and 3 for 6 seconds until the LED flashes, enter the passcode, then hold 1 and 3 again. Holding 1 and 2 for 10 seconds resets the passcode to factory and turns the mode off. If the remote stopped working after someone pressed a few buttons, that's worth checking.
Which remote is mine?
- SkyLink's ATOMS accessories are the MK series keychain remotes (such as the MK-318-3), the KN-318 keypad, and the WB-350 and WB-550 wall consoles. The model is on the back of each.
